Who Is Kathy Taylor? Part 2

In this picture Kathy Taylor can be described as showing us some sleight of hand. But in her recent television ad, is she giving us some sleight of tongue?

Kathy touts her involvement in bringing Dell Computer to OKC as evidence of her economic development prowess. Why didn't Kathy bring Dell to T-Town? Now that would have set her up for a real run for mayor. And there is no doubt that the Board of Directors for her husbands rental car company made the decision to relocate to Tulsa, not Kathy Taylor. Anyone in business would know that.

As a citizen of Tulsa, I fail to see the benefit for Taylor's part in bringing Dell to OKC. The inference is that she will do the same for Tulsa as our mayor. To me this clearly indicates that her decision to run for mayor of Tulsa was hasty and made at the last minute. Otherwise, in her position as Secretary of Commerce, she would have made sure she had done something of economic development substance for Tulsa before she ran.

Also in her new TV ad, she says her grandmother instilled "respect and dignity" in her toward other people. Thank God for grandmothers! Does this extend toward all other people? Perhaps not.

Kathy Taylor late last year celebrated a significant birthday milestone. This was a private party, but one like Tulsa has not seen in many years. Only the very rich can afford to fly in the Beach Boys to perform for you. An informed source relayed that it was a "who's who" of Tulsa and Oklahoma politics. It happened at Taylor's primary estate in Tulsa (where are her secondary homes?). The same source confirmed that she was condescending and inconsiderate, especially toward the staff helping to put on the bash. Needless to say, they were not impressed. And this all happened before Kathy Taylor announced her candidacy for mayor. And on her birthday, no less.

Is this what she is really like?

Not everyone believes that the values of respect and dignity were instilled in Kathy Taylor to the extent they apply to all people.

Good people of Tulsa, talk is cheap! Politics is about power. Some people will tell you anything as a means to an end. Kathy Taylor's end is to be elected as your mayor. Look at what a person does.

Keep campaign advertising in perspective. Ads try to carefully craft an image and message that will connect with the public. That may or may not be what a person is really like.

Will you have the discernment to spot a hypocrite?

I believe her campaign literature even states her hometown is OKC, not Tulsa. Seems her only real tie to Tulsa is her husband.

Ads are slick, though. Well done. Might be enough to get some votes if people do not look beyond that.

Just her endorsment by Tom Baker is enough for me.

So when was the last time anyone saw her husband in Tulsa? Not much of a tie unless he has a girfriend living here... hmmmm well?? you don't see him with her much now do you?

It is my understanding that Kathy Taylor was born in Okalahoma City, which is probably what you read in her campaign literature. It is also my understanding that she has lived in Tulsa since 1988. I would say 18 years in Tulsa would qualify someone to be considered a Tulsan. Also, maybe you don't see her husband with her because he has a job to go to everyday. Just a thought.

hmmm... She used her Florida address in 2000 for donating to the DNC and RNC

Her "Tulsa Roots" link speaks of working in her parents business in OKC until she lost them at age 19, then a friends' Sapulpa parents apparently paying for her college in Norman. I consider that 'raised' in OKC, at least to age 22 or so.

The "Tulsa Roots" page does not contain the word "Tulsa", except in the title.

I don't really wish to bash this woman. She seems like a really decent person. And, under what I'll call 'normal' circumstances, she would seem to make a reasonable selection for mayor. However, these are extrodinary times. And, her backing is obviously coming from the status quo with lots of funding. Her election would be a return to the Savage administration. I'm of the opinion Tulsans are looking for bigger changes than that. Or, should be. As such, I'm voting another way.

Kathy Taylor might make a good mayor but if she does she will then be a more powerful person with a "d" after her name. But heck, anybody would be better that Bill.

Sounds like jealousy to me. If she wants to have a birthday party with the Beach Boys, let her. Gracious and generous are two words that describe this woman, not condescinding or inconsiderate. Has the person passing judgement bothered to meet her personally or question her on anything? My guess is no. It's easier to pass judgement and form opinions on here say and rumors. She could obviously live anywhere but chooses to live here because she loves it. She also obviously doesn't need the mayor job or this harrassment. She wants to make a difference and make Tulsa a better place.

You say she is not a Tulsan because she was born and raised in OKC. No matter how long someone lives in a community or what they have done for the community, if you weren't 'REARED HERE YOU IS STILL AN OUTSIDER'. How "OKIE" that thought process is!! Look a little closer at the timeline, she located to Tulsa long before she remarried.
And you want to see more of her husband? For what reason? Would seeing her husband "by her side" make her more qualified for mayor? He is a businessman. They travel!
The fact is, she did lose both of her parents at age 19. She was then on her own. She put herself through college and law school. Her parents were hard working, middle class people who instilled values in their children and she did work in their business. I know-I was there!
She is a self made women. What ever she has, whatever accomplishments she had made, she has done through determination and courage. She is a go getter who can get things done. This should be exactly the kind of person you would want for your mayor. Maybe you would like her better if her husband has choosen a different band for her birthday party.

Kathy Taylor may make a good mayor and her husband William Loebeck is a business man they both run a rental car business but she needs to start at her own home town by first bringing jobs back to tulsa instead of outsourcing them to India and call center and the IT department to other parts of the Country. The outsourcing of jobs have really hurt the Tulsa economy and the rental car business that she and her husband have are one of them. Kathy Taylor stated she said she would bring in good paying jobs well her and her husbands company when I worked for there company there were a lot of people that had to work two jobs in order to make ends meet and the older aged employees were not treated well and acknowledged by the younger employees of that company. Even though the older aged workers came to work everyday where I feel the young managers were embezzling time from the company by not coming to work everyday and only coming to work when they felt like it or noon time and did not work a full day's work but the older person was there to work and they were the one's that suffered they were never given upgrades or even recognized to what they deserved but the young employees did. The older employees are not dead yet regardless of what age. Never got a chance to meet Kathy or her husband William Loebeck they never made there presence known at that company but I am sure she will or could make a good mayor if she tries to even the score with the older workers which they have a few that work for that company but they need a break just like the younger ones so you tell me what is age discrimation and when is it ever going to end. So I was one of the lucky ones I moved on I saw the writing on the wall I am like every other aged american unemployed because I felt like I was getting nowhere with the company because of all of the political managerie. I too have taken on children to raise too as well as the young ones. But everyone needs a job young or old regardless or age, color, race or religious beliefs but it seems like these companies have went to the way side believe me age discrimination is alive and well. The older employees want the right to work and the same Good pay as Kathy Taylor stated. Good Luck to all of the candidates may the best man or woman win.

Her child went to private schools, threw parties to rival her mothers, and my only interactions with this woman include rudeness, inconsideration and she is particularly fond of snubbing people in order to show her displeasure. hs edoes not seem like someone motivated for the good of others, but mostly for her own good.

Couldn't we have found a couple of better, normal people to run against Bill? Kathy who only came back to Tulsa for the election and Don who made so much money on the great planes deal that he is paying his own campain. I guess my vote will be for Randy who has been here work hard for a better Tulsa.

i can totally see the snubbing thing. it is just something in the mannerisms, the scowling look on the face, the downturned sides of the mouth, the seemingly angry demeanor, not so polished look, etc. i could go on.
